Windows
Download the application from: https://gateway.colostate.edu/global-protect/getsoftwarepage.esp
Select the Windows 64bit GlobalProtect Agent
Navigate to the downloaded MSI and run the program.
Click through the installer. The defaults are fine, you don't need to change anything so you can just click next until you get to the Installation complete screen.
GlobalProtect by default will load a little globe icon in your toolbar.
But it is most easiest found by searching.
When opened, a pop up will show on the lower right hand corner of your screen. In the Portal address, type gateway.colostate.edu
Then click connect. When prompted for your email address, please use your netid@colostate.edu, not your first.last@colostate.edu
Then enter your password and follow a Duo prompt.
MacOS
Follow this link to navigate to the download page: https://gateway.colostate.edu/global-protect/getsoftwarepage.esp
Then follow the link on the page to download the MacOS installer:
Navigate to the downloaded PKG file in Finder, then run the installer.
Continue through the installer boilerplate until you are at the Installation Type section, which has some checkboxes. Leave GlobalProtect checked. Do not install GlobalProtect System extensions.
Then click continue through the rest of the installer. When finished, you may close and trash the PKG.
From here, there is a one time action where MacOS will say a system extension is blocked from running. This is Apple's MacOS gatekeeper by default turning off the system extension for split tunneling.
If you want to uninstall the program because you are having problems or need to be rid of it, instead of trashing the PKG in Applications you should re-run the installer then click the checkbox Uninstall GlobalProtect.
