There are two ways to update your computer password:
- Use this one if you are on-campus or are able to come to campus
- If you are using a laptop, plug an ethernet cable into the laptop while it is still turned off
- Turn on the computer and create a new password
- If you have a desktop computer you just restart the computer and create a new password.
- Use this one if you are working off-campus (this works for laptops and desktops)
- Log in with your old password
- Connect to the CSU server on Global Protect
- A windows notification will pop up in the bottom right corner o the screen, it will look like this:
d. The notification is very fast and you probably won’t be able to read it all, but when it shows up, hold down the Windows key and the L key, this will lock your computer and allow you to create a new password
- If you have changed your password and your computer isn’t letting you log in with your new or old password:
- Disconnect from the ethernet or wifi
- Shut down the computer
- Turn your computer back on but don’t log back into wifi or ethernet yet
- Follow the steps for option 2 again
- It may take Microsoft products (teams, outlook, etc.) a little while to sync the password change, it could take anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours
