Windows 11 - Required Upgrade by Friday 2/20/2026
CAS and AES Colleagues,
You are receiving this email because our records indicate one or more of your CAS managed, CSU purchased Windows computers are still running Windows 10.
As mentioned in a previous email sent by CAS IT on October 2nd, 2025, Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 10 on October 14th, 2025.
In order to meet the CSU Division of IT's security requirements, CAS IT will begin blocking network access for all Windows 10 computers on Friday, February 20th, 2026. After this date, all CAS-managed devices running Windows 10 will be unable to connect to the CSU Network. To regain access, you will need to update your computer to Windows 11.
Replace your Windows 10 computer: If your device cannot upgrade to Windows 11, you will need to replace the computer with one compatible with Windows 11. Please refer to
CAS IT's Hardware Order Form for information on your options and to complete the purchase of a new device. CAS IT has a limited number of used computer lab desktops for sale, while supplies last. Select "
Used Computer Lab Desktops - Windows 11 Ready" on the Hardware Order Form for more information.
Exception Process: If it is absolutely necessary for your computer to remain on Windows 10 (i.e. it is running lab equipment that is not compatible with Windows 11), please fill out
CAS IT's Upgrade Exception Information Gathering Form. Using the info from this form, we can submit an exception request to Division IT on your behalf. The Division of IT will evaluate exception requests on a case-by-case basis.
Please contact us as soon as possible with any questions or to begin the process of upgrading or replacing your machines, at
aghelp@colostate.edu or give us a call at (970) 491-2444.
Your efforts will help protect our network, data, and community as we transition to the next generation of Windows. Thank you for your continued support in keeping CSU secure!
