Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11

  • Open the Windows Start Menu by clicking the Windows icon on the bottom-left corner of your screen, or by pressing the "Windows" key on your keyboard.

  • With the Windows Start Menu opened, type "Software Center". Press Enter or click the icon for Software Center to open the app

  • In the Software Center window, click the "Updates" option on the far left. In the Updates page, you should see an option for "Windows 11, version 24H2"
    • NOTE: If you have any other updates pending in this list, you will need to complete those first before the "Windows 11, version 24H2" update will appear.

  • Click the Windows 11, version 24H2 update to see more details. Then click the green Install button
    • NOTE: After you click Install, the windows upgrade will start downloading to your computer. This process can take 90min-3hrs depending on the computer. This process will NOT impact your ability to use your computer. While this is downloading, you can safely minimize Software Center and continue working as normal.

  • After the update has finished downloading, the green button will change to "Restart". When you are ready, click the green "Restart" button.
    • NOTE:  This restart will take between 5-30 minutes. We'd recommend starting the restart before taking a lunch break or heading home for the day.

Once the restart completes, you're finished and your computer will be running Windows 11!
